Welcome to Ditillery Garnier!

Edito

Founded in 1877 in Frênes by Pierre Garnier, the distillery of Calvados Garnier is a family business that passes down from father to son. Albert succeed him in 1913, then Jean in 1950. Today, Patrick and his son Nicolas, œnologist, are carrying on the family tradition. A passion and a know-how passing down from father to son since five generations!

Edito

Calvados Garnier are made 100% with apples (we use about 30 bitter and bitter-sweet varieties). Fruits are washed and sorted manually before being crushed and pressed. Then the must ferments naturally during few months before being distillated.

Edito

Pressing and distillation are totally controlled. We use our own press as well as our own copper column still, bought in 1923 and still in use today! The Calvados is then aged in French oak barrels and casks.

Edito

More than 250 barrels keep the History of our estate! We propose a large and complete range from the fresh and fruity FINE Calvados to the surprising roundness of our very old Calvados (12 and 20 years old).

Our History

Located in the heart of the bocage normand, the distillery Garnier Pères & Fils is a family business that passes down from father to son since five generations, elaborating Calvados (AOC), Pommeau de Normandie (AOC) and Ciders in the pure respect of the tradition.

Our History

In 1877, Pierre Garnier establishes in Frênes with his wife Pauline, whose father was itinerant distiller. He selects and buys Calvados in farms and blends and sells them in town. Deceased young, his wife continues to run the business waiting to be joined by her son.

Our History

In 1913, the son, Albert, comes back and starts to produce and age Calvados by himself and sells it in the region. In 1923, he purchases a cooper column still, still in use today! He develops the business localaly between the two World Wars.

Our History

In the 1950’s, the grand-son, Jean, develops the distillery, purchasing apples from local producers and processes it with his own press. He ages Calvados in oak casks. Step by step, he distributes older and more complex Calvados, and develops the sales in the whole Normandy.

Our History

In 1980 Patrick, the great grandson, come back to work in the family business. With his father, he diversifies the apple varieties in the orchards in order to develop his Pommeau de Normandie and Cider.

Our History

Concerned by the improvement of the quality of his Calvados, he renews regularly the barrels of his cellar.

Our History

He modernized the company, purchasing a new belt press in 2003 and expends the distribution of his products in the West of France. So, he prepares the fifth generation, given his son Nicolas his passion for this profession.

Our History

Enologist, Nicolas had travelled around the world, working in the wine and spirit world. He’s now about to take over from the company in order to continue the family tradition.
